Riverdale Episode 1 Review
Riverdale, the new series, is being compared to Twin Peaks. Are they similar?
Riverdale take place in the town where Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Josie and The Pussycat dolls reside. The previews for this show screamed out a Twin Peaks vibe. It’s obvious that is what they want the general public to think. The show is overseen by Greg Berlanti from Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends of tomorrow. So does this show live up to the comparisons of Twin Peaks?
The short answer is no – however we are only one episode into the show. Mystery covers this small town. The chemistry between the characters and actors is decent. It is refreshing to see Betty and Veronica relationship as it’s less competitive and more friendship. There is a mystery about Archie and Jugheads friendship – an obvious strain has happened, but details of their past have not been yet revealed. Jughead’s character is the narrator in the first episode. Riverdale has it’s Dawson’s Creek moments, but overall it is quite enjoying to watch. It has potential and could go in a few different directions. I will be tuning in for episode 2, and we’ll see how it goes.
